Puksta Intercollegiate Fall Luncheon and Fall Retreat

Date: October 5th
Time: 10:30 AM - 2:00 PM
Location: St. Cajetan's, Auraria Campus: 1190 Ninth St Denver, CO  80204

Note: The American Cancer Walk will also be happening on campus that day. Please plan for parking and transportation accordingly, use of the lightrail is highly encouraged.

Event Description:

Join us for the Puksta Intercollegiate Fall Luncheon/Retreat, a day filled with meaningful connection, collaboration, and fun! This event is an opportunity for Puksta Scholars from different campuses to come together, share their experiences, and build lasting relationships. The day will include team challenges, icebreakers, opportunities to get to know one another and practice one-on-ones, all while enjoying a delicious lunch and engaging in various games.

Event Agenda:

  • 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM: Setup and Decorations

    • Volunteers needed for setup (see details below)
  • 10:30 AM - 11:00 AM: Mingle, Check-In, and Name Tags

    • Arrive, meet fellow scholars, and get settled in.
  • 10:50 AM - 11:15 AM: Land Acknowledgement and Welcome

    • Lauren will provide a land acknowledgment, followed by a welcome message from John M.
  • 11:15 AM - 11:45 AM: Team Challenge/Icebreaker

    • Engage in a fun challenge with teams made up of Puksta Scholars from each campus.
  • 11:45 AM - 12:45 PM: Speed Dating and One2Ones

    • Speed dating session led by John Ma., Sam, and Lauren.
    • First-year scholars will practice their personal narratives during One2One sessions with Ana and Karina.
  • 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM: Lunch and Games

    • Winter Gift Vote:
      During lunch, we will vote on this year’s winter gift. 
    • Enjoy lunch while participating in games and additional icebreakers. Possible game stations include:
      • Yard Yahtzee
      • Cornhole
      • Football
      • Connect Four
      • Rope Toss
      • Soccer
  • 2:00 PM - 2:30 PM: Wrap-Up and Takedown

    • Volunteers needed for takedown (see details below)

Call to Action for Volunteers:

To ensure the event runs smoothly, we need volunteers to assist with setup and takedown, as well as with various activities throughout the day. Please consider lending a hand in one or more of the following areas:

  • Setup (9:30 AM - 10:30 AM):

    • Balloons/Decorations: Help decorate the space with balloons and other decorations.
    • Chalk Directions: Use chalk to create directional signs for participants.
    • Game Setup: Assist in setting up game stations.
  • Takedown (2:00 PM - 2:30 PM):

    • Help with packing up and ensuring the space is left clean and tidy.

If you can volunteer, please sign up by registering.

Additional Notes: 

  • Headshots:
    All incoming scholars will be taking headshots during the event, so come prepared! If you are a continuing scholar and you’d like an updated photo, just let me know on your registration!

  • Please bring a refillable water bottle to help save on recycling!

  • We will be inside and outside, so make sure to wear layers, sunscreen, bring sunglasses and a smile!!

  • Extra Food:
    Reusable food containers will be provided to all scholars who what to take the extra food home with them. Any other left-overs will be given through the Share Meals App

    The Share Meals App

    Share Meals is a digital platform where students can share extra meal swipes and post extra food from club events with students who are food insecure. It works in real time, based on your location. You can find extra food within a 5 minute walking distance with one quick glance.
