As part of an upcoming series on Healing Black Trauma in Nature, Puksta Alum Bweza Itaagi (’14) will be presenting her workshop, "Growing Your Oasis: Recalibration with Indoor Plants."
We're so grateful to Bweza for sharing this oppertunity with us, as well as her knowledge and experiences.
Read below for more details about the event from Bweza:
During this pandemic (and as we experience this collective grief), I’ve heard from many that their past traumas have unexpectedly surfaced. I can definitely relate—and this time in isolation has given us a unique opportunity to confront them head-on.

In my own healing process, I have relied heavily on my indoor plants. I know that on days when I feel emotionally drained—when I just don’t want to get out of bed, or talk to anybody—I’ll look at my plants and feel so much peace and happiness. They bring me so much joy as I care for them and see them grow, even when the world is at a stand-still. I truly don’t know what I’d do without them.

So when I was asked to teach a workshop for the “Healing Black Trauma in Nature” series, I was honored and knew exactly what I wanted to talk about. In my workshop, “Growing Your Oasis: Recalibration with Indoor Plants”, I’ll be sharing how my plants have supported my healing journey, the science behind this, and how you can also benefit from the magic of plants.
